Description: This laboratory oriented course is designed to introduce the concepts and skills related to the production of aqua cultural crops. The course emphasizes the study of study and development of skills in the following areas: importance of aqua culture; safety practices related to aqua culture; classification and identification of plant and animal aqua cultural species; determination of optimum growth and health of specific aqua crops; analysis of water quality; planning and designing aqua cultural facilities; harvesting of aqua crops; processing of species specific aqua crops; and the marketing of aqua cultural products. Instruction will include information on career opportunities, leadership activities, and record keeping practices related to the industry.
