Description: This course will be a study of prose fiction in which the elements of mystery play a controlling part.  Types of fiction within the category of mystery are the detective story, the gothic novel, the suspense novel, and tale of espionage, and the tale of crime.  Selections chosen for the course would be a combination of classic and modern works suitable for the high school classroom.
