Description: Algebra I: For English Language Learners, addresses foundation concepts for high school mathematics including algebraic thinking and symbolic reasoning, function concepts, and relationships between equations and functions. This course also incorporates underlying mathematical processes including computation and problem-solving, communication and representation of mathematical concepts, and applications and connections to other disciplines. This course will address a variety of algebraic concepts through the use of manipulatives and technology, such as computers and graphing calculators, in order to help students gain a more meaningful understanding of these concepts. This course is designed specifically for speakers of other languages with limited English proficiency and will be taught with English as a Second Language methodology.
