Description: This one semester elective will allow students to learn about U.S. History through the evolution of a variety of sports starting at the beginning and the developing into the major leagues. Sports eras of 1860 to 1940, 1940 to 1980, and 1980 to present will be studied. Students will learn about sports heroes, mascots, the movement of teams, the impact of the media, and the role of the U.S. in the Olympics. Connections will be drawn between the sports event and what is happening in the U.S. during that period of time.
